We have lots of volunteer opportunities! This page will feature our most up-to-date needs. You can learn more about our local global mission on the Missions page. Read more below about how you can help or email Pam Parmley and she can help you find a place. These opportunities may change as the situation changes, and those updates will be shared via The Echo and the News + Events page.
Mentor at Caldwell!
First Methodist loves to mentor at Caldwell. This is a huge gift that doesn’t take much time. You can have lunch, play a game, or read with your student. Many mentors stay with their child throughout their time at McKinney ISD. Want to learn more? Click here to visit our Caldwell Page.
English as a Second Language Ministry
Our church offers ESL classes! We have helped hundreds of English language learners from dozens of different countries develop valuable communication skills. You don’t need teaching experience or knowledge of languages to help. Just a willing spirit and free time on Wednesday nights. If you’re interested in helping with our upcoming Fall semester, click here to email Pastor Ed. Or click here to learn more about our ESL ministry.
Compassion Closet: Clothing distribution at Feeding Friends and Family
Compassion Closet gives new or gently used clothes to our neighbors in need downtown.
Our current need is new or gently used coats and jackets for kids or adults.
We also need help with sorting and distributing clothes.
You can drop by Mission Headquarters at the church to donate or sort clothes any time the Church office is open. You can also volunteer to work on Saturdays.
GATEWAY MINISTRY NEEDS VOLUNTEERS*! This dynamic ministry needs volunteers who could dedicate two hours each month to offer fellowship and fun programming for young adults with special needs.
Volunteers assist in these ways:
· Help provide a meal for the group
· Help serve the meal and assist members to make choices
· Help members enjoy the activity and assist them through any challenges they may have
· Laugh with, visit with, and have a great time with these young adults!
*any experience in educating or assisting children or adults with special needs is perfect , but not required!
Introducing One-Day Missions! These are opportunities that you can do in one day! Please check the missions to make sure you have completed any registrations in advance.
Food Drive for Community Lifeline Center. CLC is in desperate need of cereal and peanut butter. You can drop these items off at the front bins at the church all month.
Community Garden Kitchen. We are excited to continue volunteering with Community Garden Kitchen. They are an amazing group that prepares and serves healthy meals daily. YOU WILL NEED A BACKGROUND CHECK before you volunteer. Please complete the CGK volunteer application and background check before your group can be scheduled. You can learn more about what to expect here. We are forming a team to serve together. Once you get registered, email Pam Parmley to find out dates.
