It’s summer! That means pool parties and cool afternoons at the movies, shopping at the farmers market and taking family vacations. And lots of us remember that summertime ritual of faith, fellowship, and fun: spending a week at Church Camp!
What made Church Camp so great when we were kids? Meeting new people? Trying new activities? Singing silly songs, learning Bible stories, and growing closer to God? Well this summer at First United Methodist Church, we will be doing all of those things all summer long! That’s right, it’s Church Camp Summer!
Take a look at our summer calendar below. You’ll see new and ongoing mission opportunities, small groups, and Bible studies. Tons of activities for kids, youth, and families (including real Church Camp). Community-wide events for downtown McKinney. And new devotionals and worship opportunities online and in person.

- 6/2 Promotion Sunday for incoming kindergartners through current 5th graders
- 6/5 Lunch Bunch. Help pack sack lunches for our homeless ministry. We’re always in need of people to help pack, as well as donations of food and supplies. Click here to learn more!
- 6/5 Chapel Communion at 6:30pm. Pastor James leads a worship service in the Chapel every Wednesday with hymns and Holy Communion.
- 6/8 Feeding Friends and Families. Our twice-monthly food distribution for our neighbors in downtown. If you’re interested in volunteering, click here to email Pam.
- 6/12 Lunch Bunch
- 6/12 Chapel Communion at 6:30pm
- 6/13 Gateway at 6:00pm. Gateway is a ministry for adults in our community living with mental and/or physical challenges. Click here to learn more.
- 6/9-6/14 Youth Mission Trip. Our youth will be heading to Conway, Arkansas for a week of service and fellowship. They need your help to purchase tools and supplies! Click here for their Amazon wishlist.
- 6/17-6/20 Vacation Bible School. Calling all campers! Kids, adult volunteers, and Shadrach the Sheep will have a great time at Camp Firelight. Click here to sign up!
